Font size on dual Monitor Setup in Ubuntu 18.04

Issue #881 resolved
Matthias Burkhardt created an issue

In dual Monitor setup on Ubuntu 18.04, Valentina has two very different font sizes. On one Monitor it is as normal (here the internal screen of the Laptop with 1920x1080), and on the second one (also a 1920x1080 Monitor) the Font size is huge, so there is no workspace left. This is only with Valentina and VLC 3 beta, all other Programs so far work fine.

    Hi Matthias,

Thank you for your bug report. Unfortunately i don't have access to dual monitor system and never met such issue. I will need your help if we want to fix this issue. Can you tell me source of your version of Valentina? Because i see you also has problem with default icons. They gigantic.

Can you try this key? And check if it will work for you.

    --no-scaling
Disable high dpi scaling. Call this option if has problem with scaling (by default scaling enabled).
Alternatively you can use the QT_AUTO_SCREEN_SCALE_FACTOR=0 environment variable.

    More about scaling. http://doc.qt.io/qt-5/highdpi.html

    Hi Roman,

thank you for your fast reply. The Valentina Version is from your Ubuntu-Dev PPA.

You also can try to run valentina from terminal and check log output. Maybe Qt will give us a clue what is wrong.

    This worked!

Can you tell us what exactly helped you?

    my desktop file for Valentina

This file invalid right now. I have made fix, but don't know if it will help.

starting Valentina with the --no-scaling option.

I amended the .desktop file for Ubuntu so Valentina will always start with this option.

Thank you Roman for your great work! This is so amazing!

Please Matthias, read this answer https://unix.stackexchange.com/a/157902.

All i want to say. To be able to use your fixed version you must not ovveride the default one, but put a copy at $HOME/.local/share/applications/valentina.desktop. This will make your copy more prioritized and will not require from you fixing it after each Valentina update.
