Flipped pattern pieces in Layout

Issue #560 resolved
Timo Virtaneva created an issue

In some cases the pattern pieces are flipped over in Layout and of course in actual printout.

Most of the cases it does not matter, when you are cutting 2 mirrored pieces.

However it will be problem in cases, when you cannot flip the pattern piece over.

  1. You need to see the text or some other markings like darts, when cutting the fabric.
  2. When we have the grain line available, the pattern piece cannot be flipped over.

The pattern piece may have a shape, that requires certain placement on the fabric. Like avoid waste of the fabric or there are colors or image, which are important.

I think that the designer should have the control of the pattern pieces.

I have attached example of the pattern piece in Detail and Layout mode.

The wish was to have control of the flipping in the printout. If there is no way to control, it is better to disable the flipping totally.

The flipping is not improving the paper utilization based on my experience. From my point of view we don't need the flipping.

I need flipping. And if you don't want flipping you can disable it for each detail separately.

It's too late to change something. Instead i can propose to change default value for Forbid Flipping (add option in the preferences) if you so highly don't like flipping.

Sorry, I din't saw that selection.

You are always doing things better than I can hope for. Thanks again for great job.

But still, how do you like the idea?

    This looks like good compromise.

Yes, the idea is great and it is better than a compromise.

As you said most of the cases the flipping is not a problem, but now the user can control it if needed.

I like the this solution very much.

Yes, Now it is even better.

It is very easy to control the printout.

    Thanks a lot !

@Stinde100, Would you create a video tutorial showing how to use this feature? Then share the video with me. Iff it's too large for email then send it to my email use WeTransfer.com (it's free), and I will post it to the Valentina YouTube channel.
